The White Shark Trust is not conducting any fieldwork during the months of January, February and March 2005. Michael Scholl is taking a break from the fieldwork to concentrate on analysing all the information collected from 1997 through 2004.

One of our assistants, Trey SNOW from Wilmington (North Carolina, USA), has been with the White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship since the beginning of October 2004. Trey will board Barracuda, the commercial cage-diving vessel of Shark Diving Unlimited, to continue the collection of information and identification photographs of the White Sharks visiting the area.

Tuesday the 4th of January 2005... Beautiful and perfect sea day! Tom Peschak drove to Gansbaai, we launched Lamnidae and picked up Trey from Barracuda, for a shore transect and a great dive with the Seals at Dyer Island. We encountered a pod of five playful Humpback Dolphins along the shore.
On Wednesday the 5th of January, we again launched Lamnidae as the sea conditions were even better than yesterday... flat windless ocean... On our shore transect, we encountered a pod of about a dozen Bottlenose Dolphins, as well as five White Sharks. We then went to Dyer Island and Gseyser Rock to dive with the Seals...
