The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

Edward FARRELL (Dublin, Ireland), Clova JURK (Perth, Scotland), Sarah BAHAN (Idaho, USA), and Barney DUNLOP (Bath, England)

Timo SECKLER (Ellenberg, Germany) has been our assistant since the 15th of July 2005. He assisted with the manual telemetry tracking of White Sharks in Mossel Bay during the month of August.

Andy Brandy CASAGRANDE IV has been our assistant, guest and especially friend since September 2003, and he has been living in Gansbaai and assisting the White Shark Trust during most of 2004 and now again in 2005.

On Sunday the 4th of December 2005, we launched Lamnidae on a promising and beautiful morning... We welcomed back Sarah and Timo! On our shore transect, we did not observe any Sharks, but spotted a pod of Bottlenose Dolphins... Not a cloud in the sky and only a light easterly breeze... Warm day!
Whooooaaaa! What a day! If yesterday was anything to go by, today was an amazing fantastic day at sea and with the Sharks!!! The wind changed to a southerly breeze shortly after anchoring Lamnidae in Haibaai, picked up during the day, before dying off completely in the afternoon. This is the summer day we have been waiting for!
All the operators returned to shore in the early afternoon, leaving Haibaai to Lamnidae... and the Sharks were amazing the whole afternoon, with three or four Sharks around the boat at all times! We observed eighteen different White Sharks today!!! And three of these Sharks were close to four meter long! Dream day!
We left Haibaai in the late hours of the afternoon... What a fun, amazing, wonderful and exciting day!!! We conducted another shore transect returning to Kleinbaai... we observed a pod of Humpback Dolphins and one White Shark in the shallow waters along the beach...
