The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

Edward FARRELL (Dublin, Ireland), Clova JURK (Perth, Scotland), and Sarah BAHAN (Idaho, USA)

Timo SECKLER (Ellenberg, Germany) has been our assistant since the 15th of July 2005. He assisted with the manual telemetry tracking of White Sharks in Mossel Bay during the month of August.

Andy Brandy CASAGRANDE IV has been our assistant, guest and especially friend since September 2003, and he has been living in Gansbaai and assisting the White Shark Trust during most of 2004 and now again in 2005.

On Monday the 14th of November 2005, Clova, Sarah and Ed were invited on board Shark Fever of Marine Dynamics to conduct our fieldwork... and from the pictures below, it appears like the girls were working real hard!

Beautiful day at sea... flat ocean... no wind... and twelve different White Sharks observed!

The Yamaha mechanics came to check the broken outboard engine and determined that the propeller shaft was broken... Another beautiful day stuck on shore... But Dale Outboards promised us a replacement gear box on loan for tomorrow, which will allow us to go to sea again until he manages to find the necessary parts in the meanwhile.

In the afternoon, we went to De Kelders for a snorkel excursion in the kelp with the local Catsharks... Perfect day to get wet! Michael was on scuba chuming for the little Sharks with a few sardines, while the assistants were snorkeling. Within minutes, we were surrounded by two dozen Sharks... That was fun! And the kelp ecosystem is truly beautiful...
