The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

David Anthony JONES (Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK), Elsbeth Louise McSTAY (Newport-on-Tay, Fife, Scotland) and Alexia CURMI (San Gwann, Malta)

On Thursday the 1st of September, we welcomed:

Yara HALABI from London, England

Andy Brandy CASAGRANDE IV was living in Fishoek on the shores of False Bay where he was assisting Alison KOCK (South African Museum / Save Our Seas) with her research project at Seal Island since the 1st of April 2005. On the 1st of September, ABC4 joined us back in Gansbaai. Welcome back!!! And get the music going!

Timo SECKLER (Ellenberg, Germany) has been our assistant from the 15th of July to the 15th of August, and will continue his assistantship with the White Shark Trust from September through January 2006. Timo left for Mossel Bay on the 15th of July to assist Ryan JOHNSON with his active telemetry tracking of White Sharks in the bay.

On Friday the 2nd of September 2005, Michael, David and Andy were invited to go Whale watching on board the Whale Whisperer (Dyer Island Cruises). Rough and windy day, but we managed to find several Whales off Pearly Beach. One even swam right towards the boat and dived inches away under Whale Whisperer. Amazing!
Our friend Chris Florescu, first member of the Awareness Team in the UK visited Gansbaai and the White Shark Trust from the 20th of August to the 5th of September. Chris has been organising many supporting partnerships with companies in the UK during the past few months. His mom Lynn joined him on his trip back to South Africa after two and a half years of absence. We will dearly miss him once again... and I would like to thank him for everything he has been doing for the White Shark Trust in England!!!

Our friend Lance Coetze, manager of the Carcharias Boutique in Kleinbaai, went surfing again on the 5th of September with much better swell conditions than previously. Andy caught some great photographs of the action... no breaches though...
